To the customers of DDK Machine Movers Ltd;
What a year 2024 was - another blockbuster year for us and many of our clients show that Britain is open for business and navigating the stormy geopolitical landscape in front of us. DDK Machine Movers has now turned over £15.5m in primarily machine moving logistics, but that figure is growing also with our machine storage and distribution operation. Since our inception, DDK has continued to invest and develop in our exceptional staff and and equipment to ensure that we remain at the cutting edge of technology when it comes to moving machinery, and also provide the best service.
In 2024:
In 2024 some of our focus was on ensuring our "on the ground" tackle vans were totally up date. This meant large investment in brand new jacks, brand new skates, skate bars, slings, eye bolts and other important machine moving tools. With all this new tooling we decided to add a much needed further tackle van to the fleet.
Our tool vans go out with our articulated trucks and are fully kitted out with manual and hydraulic tools and equipment for relocating machinery. The forklifts and cranes do the big stuff, and these vans have all of our specialist tackle inside for these operations. Also, to insure millimetre perfect precision placement, sometimes this has to be done manually with hydraulic jacks and positioning equipment.
Our tool and tackle vans are vital to smooth, efficient and easy machine moving, we ensure they are well looked after and want for nothing, so when it matters they look after us and our customers!
We also invested in Alcoa wheels for our trucks - anyone involved in trucking knows these are the gold standard for wheels - lighter, stronger, and more efficient than factory supplied they are often the first upgrade to bring to any new truck - they reduce our carbon footprint and also they look fantastic in the sun. We also found ourselves in increasingly high demand for Xray installs - many of the skills involved in our work compliment translates into a very experienced and competent team for Airport, Prison, and Defence sites across the UK for installing this kind of machinery. More information available here on our Xray installation team - feel free to give myself a call if you need any quotations on this kind of tender or install. Our staff compliment has also grown with a new member of staff with extensive experience in the machine moving industry, and a fantastic forklift operator who's experience on the Versa Lift shines brightly on the tighter and trickier installs using that equipment.
I am pleased to say Lewis - our new starter last year who at the time of last years letter was training to pass his HGV is now a fully fledged driver (and instigator of the change to the Alcoa wheels!) He continues to build on his knowledge and is indispensable to our team.
Peter - our longest serving team member (and pictured top row in the center below) had a good year, many days spent on the Versa Lift on one site - acting as the designated heavy lift man - his experience and competence another vital asset.
Looking forward to 2025
As we head into 2025 we will be focusing on ensuring our fleet is fully DVS compliant. This is a further regulation from the government ensuring trucks have good visibility all around with new cameras - this is to minimize incidents, particularly with cyclists. We are also looking at investing in a Smaller "cheesewedge" crane unit - this means getting into tight spaces with a crane will be easier - ultimately ensuring lower prices for our customer, and more flexibility in our fleet which is currently biased towards very heavy lifting. We are also looking at investing in land and warehousing, paticularly in the Guildford area - so if you know of anything coming up, or someone that might be interested please get in touch - we are serious buyers! As always, if you have any requested for quotations, any machine, anywhere in the world (or stored!) Get in touch, and we'll do our best to help.
